About Hoksey Native Seeds

Founded by Carroll Hoksbergen, we are driven by a passion to conserve native habitat and celebrate our local wildlife.

We are committed to providing you with high quality native prairie grass and wildflower seeds to meet your (CRP) Conservation Reserve Program, backyard, or custom prairie planting needs. Almost 40 years ago, after collecting foundation seeds from prairie remnants, we began to produce native prairie seeds. Now we specialize in helping farmers and land owners preserve the Midwest’s beautiful prairie heritage through seed production and prairie establishment.

Based right in the heart of Iowa, our seed mixes are formulated to thrive in our home state and our neighboring states: Illinois, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, and Missouri

Our Focuses

  • A vibrant wildflower meadow with purple and yellow flowers under a partly cloudy sky, with trees in the distance. The plants include gray-headed coneflower, Big Bluestem, Indiangrass, and Wild Bergamot.

    Midwest Native Seed

For nearly 40 years, we’ve been formulating native prairie seed mixes tailored specifically for the Midwest. With species that thrive in Iowa and its neighboring states, we are ready to help you grow the perfect CRP cover, backyard prairie, pasture, or cover crop for your specific needs and region.

  • Agricultural seed planter machine in a field at sunset. This is a native seeder for planting prairie and wildflowers. It is the best seeder for natives on the market.

    Hoksey Native Seed Planter

Finding the right equipment for large-scale prairie seeding can be tough. With the unique needs of wildflower and native grass seeding, most traditional farm implements just won’t work. We set out to design a seeder that’s easy to use, easy to haul, and easy to customize to your needs.

    The Prairie Farm

Inspired by our founder Carroll Hoksbergen’s drive to conserve native Midwestern habitat and wildlife, the podcast known as The Prairie Farm was founded to bring education, resources, and inspiration to those wanting to be a part of conserving the health of our beautiful land.
